giveaway day WINNER!!

Whew! Giveaway day (week) is now over and whoa, what an amazing response! Thanks so much to everyone who took the time to enter my contest, and of course to everyone who participated in Giveaway Day on their own blogs. I can't believe how many new blogs I visited and how many contests I entered. So much fun! And a special 'thank you' to Sew, Mama, Sew for hosting this awesome event! (I'm feeling a bit like a pageant winner now..)

Ok, so I was getting giddy thinking about who was going to win the dress or $25 certificate, so I did the draw and here is the lucky winner..

(Please excuse this screen shot from my phone. I can't seem to figure out how to get the actual results screen on my blog without it resetting again.)

And #152 is:

Congratulations Katie! I'll send you an email shortly so I can get your info to send your prize off to you! Yay!

Thanks again to everyone who stopped by my blog (and to those who have decided to continue following). I'll probably take a wee break from the blog over the next week or so, but will be back before the end of the year (and will quite likely also have a huge sale in the shop!) Cheers! Happy Holidays! hooray for GIVEAWAY DAY!!

Well hello friends! and a special fuzzy warm welcome to everyone visiting from Sew, Mama, Sew! It's giveaway day again and this time, I thought I'd do something a little different. For this giveaway, I'm offering the winner two options to choose from. And here they are..

OPTION #1

Upcycled Shirt Dress - Size 4-5T
($38 value)

This dress is 100% cotton (a former Calvin Klein button shirt) and features sweet ruffle cap sleeves and the original button placket in the back to make dressing easier. To complement the light blue and sage green striped pattern, I appliqued a large coral/pink flower and added a little hand embroidered detail (applique will fray a bit after a few washes for a cool, deconstructed look). *the colour in the photos is showing the dress to be a bit on the pinkish side, but it is actually off-white, light blue and sage. The inside of the dress is finished with French seams and a sweet little 'boutique' label. The size is 4-5T but it would very likely fit a 6 year old comfortably as a tunic top. The measurements are approximately 14 1/2" across the chest (underarms) and 25" from top of shoulder to hem. This dress is one-of-a-kind and handmade by me :)

OPTION #2

A $25 Gift Certificate for Oh Hello Rabbit which can be used for anything 'ready to ship' in my shopincluding sale items (cannot be used toward 'made to order' items). What would you choose?

So, are you in? To enter, simply leave a comment below letting me know what you would choose if you won. And please make sure I have a way of contacting you if you do win :) One entry per person (with the exception of the 'hoop-jumping' below..) This giveaway will run until Friday, December 16th at 5pm PST and I'll be using good old RANDOM.ORG to pick the winner who will be announced on this blog the following day. This is open to anyone, anywhere in the world (with a legit mailing address of course). As a reminder, the gift certificate in OPTION #2 is only good for READY TO SHIP items (cannot be used toward 'made-to-order' items) and you must select your item(s) by Dec 19, 2011 so that I can have your goodies wrapped up and in the mail to you by Dec 24th).

And now for the 'hoop-jumping'..

For up to 3 more entries you can:

-follow me on twitter and tweet about this post tagging @ohhellorabbit (easiest to just click the 'twitter share' button at the bottom of this post)

market, giveaway winner, and a belated SALE!!

Well, it was a busy weekend at the Urban Artisans Craft Market. Thanks so much to everyone who made it out in the rain to visit and support the local craft scene! Not only was it fun to chat with shoppers (everyone was super friendly despite the rain and gloom outside), it was also a wonderful market for meeting other crafters and artists!

Pouches and bags in sweet Japanese fabrics, hand drawn cards and super cute sock monkeys by Amrita

DIY felting kits by Woolly Owl Designs

Super fun felt party games, toys and dress-up supplies by Sweet Earth Celebrations

Skinny ties, felt necklaces, ornaments and mobiles by Happy Little

My fabulous crocheting friend and table buddy Jenn's Yarn Addiction

And of course, my table and offerings :)

And there were so many others that I just didn't manage to get pictures of, like Noei and her Japanese fabric pouches, passport covers and adorable elephant coasters, and Comiditas with the amazing felt play food. Really, I originally thought that after this market I wouldn't want to touch my sewing machine for a month, but I came away from it feeling even more inspired to make things! How cool is that! :)

And now, moving right along...

Thanks so much to everyone who entered my Japanese pattern book giveaway! According to the mighty Random Number Generator, the lucky winner is #11:

a japanese pattern book GIVEAWAY!

It's been a little damp and dreary over here on the West coast so I thought I would shake things up a bit with a 'chase-the-November-gloom-away', 'pre-holiday-celebration', 'thanks-for-reading-my-blog' GIVEAWAY!!

If you've been reading this blog for a little while, you may know that I have a bit of a thing for Japanese sewing pattern books. Aside from the lovely, creative photography and detailed, (relatively) easy to follow instructions, I find the actual clothing style to be the perfect balance between classic folksy and ultra modern. Oh, I love it so!

Back in June, I was super excited to find that Vancouver actually has a used Japanese book store that sells a small selection of these books (which I blogged about here). Although there are now quite a few places that sell these books online, it really is nice to be able to flip through the pages and kind of 'size-up' the patterns to see if they are actually doable. Some are definitely more detailed and easier to follow than others. So during my last trip there, I came across this awesome book (which is apparently now out of print).

I already own this book (picked it up the last time I was there), but loved it so much I thought it would be pretty cool to buy this one to offer as a giveaway. Now I admit, I haven't actually made anything from this particular book yet, but sereral patterns are on my to-sew list (which is getting pretty long..). The instructions (words are written in Japanese but there are a LOT of diagrams/pictures) look very clear and detailed and I think this would be a great book for an advanced beginner sewer who has had some experience sewing simple garments. The size range is from 90-130cm which would be approximately a size 3T to a 6 (if I'm wrong and someone knows the actual conversion, please let me know!), and there is a good mix of patterns for girls and boys (yay! more cool boy patterns!!) There are 26 patterns in total. And although this came from the used bookstore, it is in pretty perfect condition with the pattern sheet still intact and unopened (I'm thinking this was just purchased from somewhere as overstock..)

So, are you in? To enter, simply leave a comment below. Anything (nice) will do but make sure I have a way of contacting you if you win :) One entry per person (with the exception of the 'hoop-jumping' below..) I'm going to leave this contest open for a little while until end of day Sunday, November 27th (as I'll be a busy bee for the next week and a half doing last minute sewing for this market) and will have the good old Random Number Generator pick the winner on the following Monday. This is also open to anyone, anywhere in the world (with a legit mailing address of course).

And now for the 'hoop-jumping'..

For up to 3 more entries you can:

-follow my blog
-follow me on twitter (I'd love it if you tweeted about this post but not necessary for the extra entry)
-follow me on facebook (same as above, I'd be super happy if you shared this post but it's not necessary for the extra entry)

For each additional entry, please leave an extra comment below so it gets counted.

And there you go.

(and for all you local folk, another little reminder about this market coming up very soon on Nov 26-26!! Hope to see some of you there!)

ramblings, a GIVEAWAY and an end of summer sale..

(fyi, giveaway and sale info is right down at the very bottom of this rather drawn out post so if you don't care to read through my ramblings, just go ahead and scroll down to the bottom. I won't be offended :)

Hello friends! I had a super busy but very fun couple of days. On Sunday, I was back peddling my wares at the Blim Community Market, only this time, instead of in a back lane on a cool evening, it was right smack downtown in the afternoon of probably the hottest day of the year so far. We were lucky enough to have the shelter of a tent but even so, we were meeelting! But, it was still a great turnout and a fun time!

view from my booth

On Monday, it was all play and no work at the PNE Fair here in Vancouver. I love love LOVE this fair and I haven't been in a few years. So this time, I selfishly left the kiddos at home with the grandparents and went with friends. There are a few 'must dos' for me when visiting the PNE. 'Oooing and awwing' at the Superdogs show, watching live 'infomercials' at the marketplace, purchasing gadgets that you 'really hope will work but know that there is a 50% chance they will not' at the marketplace, eating a bag of those little donuts all warm and sugary, and playing a few of those silly and often impossible games at Playland. My favourites are Roll a Ball and Wac a Mole. Seriously, I LOVE Wac a Mole. I think it's quite possibly one of the most fun ways for a mama to release some stress!

Me looking a little crazed with excitement! (and I won!)

Me in action but lost to the guy on my right :(

So in Vancouver, the PNE pretty much signifies the end of summer. It goes until Sept 5th and then, whattaya know, it's back to school for the kids, the air is significantly cooler and the leaves are falling from the trees. (actually, with our strange summer, the leave have already been falling off the trees for a while now..) So, even though I don't really want to admit that summer is coming to an end, it is. So I thought it might be fun to do a little giveaway and to have a bit of a sale in the shop.

First, the GIVEAWAY. I've been having a super fun time whipping up these little zippered pouches. They are made from a textured vintage cotton fabric and lined with really fun and colourful prints because, well, I love having little secret bursts of colour and fun prints! The zippers are a hint to what you'll find inside..

Would you like to win one of these? If so, then leave a comment on this post. Anything is fine, but if you're feeling chatting, you can tell me a bit about yourself, if you like the fall or if you're sad about summer ending.. OR, if you have a good 'knock-knock' joke cuz kiddo #1 is all over these and I'm running out of good ones to tell him. Contest closes on Sept 5th and TWO WINNERS will be picked by the good ol' random number generator. Winners can choose from any of the black or white rose pouches available. One comment per person please.

BUT, you can get bonus entries if you
1) follow my blog
2) follow @ohhellorabbit on twitter
3) tweet about this giveaway mentioning @ohhellorabbit
4) 'like' this blog post Just realized I don't have a 'like' button so change that to 'share this post on Facebook'
Please leave a separate comment for each of these bonus entries. Yup, I know it's pretty much bribery, so if you're against that, then a simple comment below with some way for me to contact you will suffice.

Now, on to the sale..

From now until September 12th:
ALL CLOTHING in the shop will be 25% off (with a few items at 40% off!)
ALL POUCHES will be FREE SHIPPING (in North America only. Discounted shipping for International)
No coupon code required. Prices and shipping have already been adjusted. Now go on, have a look!
